Hi Sarah and Ross
I hope you and the animals are well.
Just a quick note to update you on Dylan, he is an absolute dream and we love him! The first couple of days he was a nit nervous and obsessed with food, to the point he would bolt it down in one go and then was sick! He is much calmer now and we brought him a special food bowl which has humps in it to slow him down. He is also rather partial to apples and although we have picked every one of them from the trees he still manages to find them from them in the hedges!
We took them both for a long walk on Sandbanks beach last weekend and discovered he loves to swim.
He had another check up at the vet last week and all his lumps and bumps have all healed up nicely and he is now the weight he should be at 32kg,
I think that’s it for now except to say thank you for rescuing him and for allowing us to be his new “parents” He has brought us such joy and love and is now very much one of the family as you will see from the photos.
Love and best wishes Nicolette, Richard, Kindi and Dylan
Dear Sarah & Ross,
Just a quick photo of Louie that I took today!
Best wishes
Dear Sarah
How are you? I don’t know if you and Ross even remember a little mistreated
tortoiseshell cat called Maddy that you kept in your yard for a while last
summer? the one whose owner said she was aggressive and a horrible cat? I
thought that if so, you might like to hear an update, which is that she has
become more and more relaxed, goes up to everyone and tries to sit on
people’s knee, and never bites or scratches me any more (she does other
people occasionally if they don’t get her “stop that” signals). I’ve just
learned what she does and doesn’t like, eg she hates to be touched when
she’s sitting or lying on her front. But when she comes and lies on your
feet with her belly in the air, it means that she wants affection, and she
will let me stroke her back, sides and belly! Her jumping out with claws is
either playful or to get attention, and she’s learned not to do it with me
any more – or only with claws in – because I watched her at the times she
used to do it and told her not to. She’ll come to me from five roof-tops
away when I call and rub herself on my feet, lying on her back, purring so
loudly that it sounds as though she’s choking! It was just a question of
getting to know her and what annoys or scares her. She’s so much less jumpy,
and I love watching her outside because she looks happy! She comes and goes
across the rooftops and gardens, watches birds, lies in the sun – I see her
heading off on her favourite trails, and it looks as though she has a life
of her own that she’s made, and feels happy and secure. She’s an amazing
cat. Thank you again for looking after her so well – and for taking her back
for a while when my Dad was ill (he’s doing ok – very very tired now but
still in his own home).
I hope you’re well and happy too. You do such important work.
All the best
Mary-Clare
Hi Sarah, just a quick shot of Noir (now known as Tally). She is settling in really well and we haven’t had any problems with her. Murphy was abit unsure at first but now they tolerate eachother. Not quite the best of friends yet but they sniff eachother and Murphy is always very nosy as to what she’s up to. There are lots of hiding places for her here so he’s always wandering round the house trying to find her
Hi Sarah
In all the excitement I completely forgot to send you the pictures. Skye has literally slotted in and her only fault is that she wants to bolt off so we keep her on an extendable lead all the time. It will, we think, take her some time to teach her to stay near. But with time and patience we will help her sort her wandering off out.
She is adorable and has certainly been well loved in the past. We are in no doubt that she will have run off after something and got lost. If only she had been chipped!
We look forward to seeing you on the 15th. Again very many thanks.
Hello all. This is Phil and Sam just giving you a quick update on Betty, the collie cross alsatian (we think, not sure). We`ve had her 3 weeks now and she`s settling in really well. She was a bit wary of strangers to start with but as her confidence grows she is more relaxed and less wary when meeting people for the first time, although she can be a bit choosy of who she wants to be friends with. She is very curious about new things (read nosey) especially children, and is very good when playing with younger dogs and puppies. As she`s become more settled her walks have become easier as we`ve got to know each others ways. Her recall is very good and she`ll come when called normally, but if she sees something new she has to investigate first before she comes running back. Other dogs out walking are a magnet to her and she has to say hello and have a good sniff and play, but she always comes when called after a bit of fun first. She is a very intuitive dog and very switched on, she loves a good romp and will play ball all day if we let her. She is quite strong willed as well but that`s not a problem as we are quite firm with the boundaries ans she does get told off if she steps out of line. She does try and push the boundaries now and again but we dont let her have too much slack as she`s far too intelligent. We would like to thank Terry and Karen Curtiss for their help and the time they gave to her as she`s turned into a very happy contented dog.
Wishing you All The Best

JADE, BLACK FEMALE MOGGY, DELIVERED TO US ON TUESDAY 5THJULY
We thought you would like to know how Jade is getting on. After a very shaky start Jade seems to besettling in reasonably well. She didn’t use her litter tray for 2 ½ days and eventuallyused the office floor to relieve herself so we decided to change the litter andthe tray and that seemed to do the trick. She will not use the cat-flap unless it is propped open and loves to runout of the patio doors up the tree back in over the furniture and repeat. She also still hisses at times and shows herclaws but we just say no and again that seems to do the trick.
Jade is still scared of various things but seems to enjoythe garden and the open door and continually returns to ensure that she canstill get in. She is always our bestfriend at feeding times and she eats like a horse.
I’m sure within time things will go from strength to strength. Jade is a very intelligent little girl andcan at times outwit us. She also lovesto play with a ping-pong ball and anything that moves like string or cat ropes.
We sometimes feel it is two steps forwards and one back butconsidering her past we feel that we have done the right thing and have noregrets. It is only three weeks and therefore early days.
For info:
When we checked the info entered at Petlog, they had Jadelogged as a fox terrier bitch. After writingto them and pointing out their error they upgraded us to Pet Premium. Perhaps everyone should go on-line and checktheir entry. All the details that you gave them were correct, it wastheir mistake and they have now corrected the details.
Thank you for Jade
Kind regards
A very grateful Tony and Glenda Evans
Hi Sarah, just a little pic to show you Coco, she has stopped hissing now, and becoming a lot braver by the day. Still not quite there with her jumping up to be with us but we do get the odd cuddle, when she is half asleep she’ll let us pick her up. My husband came back and immediately got her purring! So def a daddy’s girl! Haven’t let our boys interact with her yet, apart from single introductions to her which still causes hisses and hackles up on both parts! But slowly it will get better, especially after she is spaid. Well all for now, regards

Having fun in the park with my nephew Jason and their dog Monty (the pug). The other Staffie belongs to someone else in the park and Dottie had a whale of a time.
She has now played with the other Staffie a couple of times and we meet Jaz and her owner who is disabled quite often.
Hi Sarah. It’s coming up to a year since we got Clarence (now Charlie !) from you. Here are some photos we thought you might like to see. One of him posing for his portrait ! The others at play, including with his buddie “Jack”. They get on really well. Charlie has now settled in very well with us, he’s so part of the family, we love him to bits. It’s great that animals can be found loving homes through your rescue organisation. Thanks for your Xmas card by the way..and we will be sending a contribution to the centre shortly, keep up the good work. Love from Angela and Peter
