🐹 Meet Popcorn 🐹

8-month-old Brown Roan | Neutered Male Guinea Pig

Popcorn came into the care of All Animal Rescue alongside his companion, Luigi, after their owner was no longer able to manage the conflict between them. Although they cared deeply for both boys, their personalities simply weren’t compatible.

Popcorn is a confident, dominant young guinea pig with plenty of character. He can happily live with other guinea pigs, provided they have a large, well-designed enclosure with multiple hides, feeding stations and enough space to move away from each other when they choose. Like many dominant guinea pigs, having plenty of room helps to reduce tension and allows relationships to develop naturally.

We feel Popcorn would be best suited as a companion to a calm, submissive female guinea pig (following the appropriate bonding process), where his confident personality is likely to be a much better match.

As with all guinea pigs, Popcorn will need a spacious enclosure, unlimited good-quality hay, a balanced diet of quality guinea pig pellets and fresh vegetables, and plenty of enrichment to keep him happy and healthy.

Approximate Monthly Costs

Although pet insurance is not currently available for guinea pigs in the UK, they are classed as exotic pets and veterinary treatment can become expensive if they become unwell. We strongly recommend setting aside at least £10 per month in a dedicated savings account for unexpected veterinary costs.

Typical monthly costs:

  • Veterinary savings: £10
  • Good-quality hay, pellets and fresh vegetables: £35
  • Good-quality bedding: £20

Estimated total monthly cost: £65

Popcorn is neutered and microchipped.
