💕 A Gentle Soul Looking for Love
Sammy is a true gem of a dog, full of heart and gentle charm. This lovely 9-year-old lady came to us after the sad passing of her owner. Though her family did their best to care for her while she waited for a place with us, they weren’t able to keep her permanently. Now she’s ready to find her perfect retirement home — one filled with love, calm, and comfort.
🚶♀️ Sniffs Over Sprints
Sammy enjoys two leisurely 30-minute walks a day, but don’t be surprised if she asks to go a bit further! She’s more of a “bimbler” than a power walker — she likes to stop and sniff the roses (and everything else!). She’s the ideal companion for someone with a slower pace of life who wants a furry friend to share easy strolls and cozy afternoons.
🛋 A Homebody at Heart
This sweet girl is happiest when she’s snuggled up next to you on the sofa or enjoying a gentle ride in the car. She’s a social butterfly in a quiet way — she’d love a few outings to see friends or family but prefers peaceful environments to busy places. Sammy would thrive in a calm, adult-only home (visiting children are fine!) where someone is around most of the time. She does have mild separation anxiety and can only be left alone for up to 2 hours.
🐾 Perfectly Polite with Other Animals
Sammy is incredibly gentle with other animals. She’s proven herself to be brilliant with cats, horses, sheep, goats, and even donkeys! Her lovely nature extends to polite interactions with visiting children too — but due to her age, we’re looking for a home without resident young children.
🩺 From Worn Down to Wonderful
Sammy arrived with a number of health issues — poor skin due to a long-term untreated flea allergy, dental problems, and a few lumps. But thanks to lots of love and top-notch veterinary care, she’s bounced back beautifully! She’s now on a high-quality flea prevention program and a medication called Apoquel to help her skin recover. We’re hopeful this will be temporary, but for now, it’s part of her routine.
