đ Dec Story
Dec first came into our care back in 2019 along with his brother, Ant, after their previous owner was no longer able to keep them. The cheeky pair soon found a wonderful home on the Isle of Wight, where they kept a lovely horse company.
For a while, everything seemed perfect â until the mischievous duo decided that their equine friendâs mane and tail looked a little too tempting! Despite their new ownersâ best efforts to keep them separated, the boysâ determination (and goat-like curiosity!) meant they kept finding their way back in. To keep everyone safe, it was decided that Ant and Dec should return to the rescue.
Sadly, tragedy struck last year when the boys managed to get into an area containing a bag of bramble cuttings â and at the very bottom were some rhododendron stems, which are highly toxic to goats. Despite our team finding them quickly and beginning treatment right away, Ant sadly didnât pull through.
Dec fought hard and, with a lot of love and care from the team, made a full recovery. But without his brother, he became deeply depressed. It was then we decided Dec should stay with us permanently â he had become such a big part of our family, and moving him again just didnât feel right.
A few weeks later, we were contacted about a stray goat in need of a home. The moment Dec met the lovely Flora, it was love at first sight! The two have been inseparable ever since, so Flora has also become a permanent resident here at the rescue.
Now, Dec and Flora spend their days side by side â living their best lives, loved, safe, and very much together. â¤ď¸
