Amber – Has an amazing new home in Eastleigh!

Amber is a medium-sized Staffy cross neutered female and is approximately 4 years old.

Amber came in to the rescue weighing just 15kg (she is now a healthy 32kg). Poor Amber had been used as a breeding machine and was in an emaciated physical state, in pain from fractured teeth and with a terrible worm burden, to top it all she was completely shutdown mentally when she arrived to the rescue.

From her behavior, appearance and attitude we believe that Amber had lived her whole life in a kennel before coming to us, and she spent the first couple of weeks terrified by all the noises of the house we take for granted. However, with amazing care from her foster parents, this brilliant girl has gained a healthy amount of weight, shed all of her health issues and blossomed out of her scared cocoon.

Amber is now an outgoing dog who loves people and especially children. Despite limited socialisation prior to coming into the rescue, Amber is brilliant with other dogs and loves to play. Her only real fault is that she is not great at reading signals and she does not quite understand when a dog is telling her to “go away”; even when they are quite aggressive to her she will just play bow and wiggle her bum. This behavior can annoy some dogs, so she would have to go to a home with a dog that is understanding but the more time she spends with different dogs the more she is learning proper doggy social cues. We find that she is better with dogs her own size, as the little dogs can get extra cross with her.

Amber is clean in the house, good on and off the lead, loves the car (she will happily travel for miles in the car and is very well behaved) and she is good to left for up to two hours at home (if left for longer periods and she has been known to chew random things like a book). Amber is NOT good with cats or small furries, she gets way too excited with pigs, but totally ignores horses, cows and donkeys both on the forest and in the field.

Amber would make a great addition to a household with another medium-sized dog, with children over the age of 5.

Amber is fully vaccinated, micro chipped, neutered, up to date with all flea treatment and wormer and comes with 5 weeks free insurance. If you feel you could offer Amber a home either call 02380 893188 or e-mail [email protected]
