Oreo Story
Oreo came into the rescue early in 2025 alongside his partner in crime, Milly!
Sadly, their previous owner had been unwell for the last five years, and during that time, Oreo and Milly’s care began to decline. Concerned members of the public noticed their situation and reported it to the RSPCA. The RSPCA then reached out to us to see if we had space to take them in – and of course, we couldn’t say no!
Due to the owner’s ill health, we weren’t able to gather many details about Oreo and Milly. However, we were incredibly fortunate that kind-hearted locals, who own neighbouring fields, looked back through their photos. The oldest photo they could find of the pair suggests they are at least 18 years old – though they could be even older! For reference, the current world record is 22, so they are doing amazingly well for their age. This shows that up until recent years, they had clearly been very well cared for.
Oreo and Milly are like a sweet, bickering married couple – they squabble now and then, but their bond is unbreakable. Oreo may be an older gentleman, but he is still fit and could have gone on to a new home. Sadly, Milly has complex medical needs, meaning she will need to remain here at the rescue permanently.
Because they are so bonded, we have made the decision not to separate them. Instead, they will both stay with us as permanent residents, living out their golden years together in comfort and love.
